Reza Nourjou is a GIS scientist/specialist. He received his PhD in Social Informatics related to disaster emergency management from Kyoto University and his master's degree in GIS from Iran. He is currently collaborating as a GIS consultant with tech companies on web GIS, software development, cloud computing services, and disaster emergency management in energy sector. Further previous affiliations include researcher and graduate research assistant positions at Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University, visiting scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, visiting scholar at University of Southern California, GIS Research Assistant at Risk Management Research Center, and GIS specialist at the private sectors. He serve as program committee for “ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems” and Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management (ISCRAM). He published over than 18 papers. His research interests and expertise include: GIS, GIS software engineering, automated planning and scheduling algorithms, multi-agent systems and autonomous agents, disaster emergency/crisis response, spatial agent-based modeling and geo-simulation, data mining and machine learning (an ongoing area), Web GIS (ArcGIS for Server), spatial data services, cloud computing services (AWS), .NET.
