Maria-Iuliana Dascalu is a lecturer/assistant professor for data structures and algorithms, programming languages, objected oriented programming, semantic web technologies and systems engineering within the Department of Engineering Taught in Foreign Languages at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest (UPB) and a researcher in the field of applied computer science (intelligent e-learning systems, artificial intelligence applied to knowledge management systems). She is a postdoctoral fellow at the same university, her postdoc subject being „Intelligent instrument to recommend and optimize collaborative learning activities within multidisciplinary teams”. Maria defended her PhD thesis on July 2011 in the field of applied computer science at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE). Her thesis title was „E-Assessment in E-learning Platforms, with Applications to Project Management”. She holds a Master Degree in Project Management, from ASE (2008) and a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Computer Science, Alexandru-Ioan Cuza University (UAIC), Iasi, Romania (2006). She also worked as a software developer and research projects’ consultant in international companies for four years. She conducted mobility/research stages at Erasmus Hogeschool Brussel and University of Gothenburg, Sweden. She worked in 5 research projects and published 1 book, 9 book chapters in international books, 19 journal articles, indexed in ISI Web of Knowledge and other international database, almost 40 papers presented at international conferences, from which half are published in ISI Proceedings.
