Maanak Gupta is Research Assistant at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where he is pursuing his doctoral studies in computer science with focus on security and privacy. He holds a MS in Computer Science and Information Systems from UTSA and Northeastern University respectively. Previously, he has also served as assistant professor at DIT University, India. He is a student member of IEEE, ACM and life member of ISTE. He is also currently a member of IFIP WG 11.3 Working Group on Data and Applications Security and Privacy, and IOT Council European Union. He has served as reviewer for IEEE TDSC, ESORICS and CIT, session chair in ACM SACMAT 2018 and member for RSA 2018 Security Scholar program committee. His research has been mostly funded by NSF, DoD ARL and private industry. He has also served as executive member in various social and student committees in UTSA including the Computer Science Graduate Student Association and Indian Student Association. Currently, his primary area of research concentrates on foundation aspects and applications of access control in different technological domains including Connected Smart Cars, Internet of Things, Big Data and Cloud Computing.
