Hasibun Naher is currently working as a Professor and Chairperson at the department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Prof. Naher joined BRAC University as a mathematics faculty at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MNS) on 20th May, 2007. Prior to joining BRAC University, she also served as a mathematics faculty at several universities of Bangladesh since 2001. Prof. Naher has an extensive research profile in Applied Mathematics. She has published forty-four peer-reviewed research articles in international journals, including journals indexed in Q1, Q2, and Scopus. In addition to her research publications, she is the sole author of three books, two of which were published by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), Bangladesh, and one by Universiti Sains Malaysia. She has also contributed a chapter to a book published by an international publisher. In 2002, she discussed the importance and benefits of mathematics education for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinees in The Daily Ittefaq. She has presented her research on Applied Mathematics as both an invited speaker and a regular speaker at academic conferences and scientific forums in Bangladesh and abroad. Prof. Dr. Hasibun Naher is an accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Applied Mathematics. She received her PhD from the renowned School of Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang, Malaysia. She completed her B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. in Mathematics from Jahangirnagar University (JU), Bangladesh, securing First Class in both degrees. She has maintained an excellent academic record throughout her educational career. She received a merit-based scholarship from the Dhaka Education Board, Bangladesh, and a scholarship from Jahangirnagar University based on her academic performance. In recognition of her research achievements, Prof. Naher received the 2018 OWSD–Elsevier Foundation Award for Early Career Women Scientists in the Developing World, an international award covering sixty-six developing countries in the fields of Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. She was the first recipient of this award in Mathematics from Bangladesh. In addition, she was selected for the Asian Scientist 100 (AS100) – 2019 Edition, which recognizes outstanding researchers and innovators from across Asia for their achievements in diverse scientific disciplines. She also received the Best Researcher Award under the Faculty & Staff Award 2015 at BRAC University. As a mathematician specializing in Applied Mathematics and STEM-related fields, Prof. Naher has been actively involved in encouraging and motivating female students to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As an international award recipient, she participated in an interview with the United Nations on 13 February 2019, where she discussed the importance of inspiring women and girls to pursue STEM education and careers. She was also featured as an Asia's Rising Scientist by Asian Scientist Magazine, where she discussed the challenges, she experienced as a scientist from a developing country and shared her perspectives and aspirations for advancing scientific research in the future. The United Nations Academic Impact (UN Academic Impact) has recognized her research engagement and contributions related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Her ongoing research activities also encompass Active Learning, Climate, and Energy, which are aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and SDG 13: Climate Action.
