Jiawei Chen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center (PEER), University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on real-time daylight monitoring, cyber-physical systems, and structural resilience. He developed and patented the Parallel Luminance Sensor, enabling multi-directional luminance measurements, and has contributed to industry collaborations with organizations such as Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). Jiawei holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, with minors in Mechanical Engineering and Statistics, and is a licensed LEED AP BD+C and PE Civil (Structural). Beyond research, he is passionate about digital photography and music.
