Senior Lecturer
Domain of Research: model-based design, software engineering, domain-specific modelling
Dr Sofia Meacham received her Diploma in Computer and Informatics Engineering, in 1994, and her PhD degree, in 2000, from University of Patras, Greece. Her phd research interests fell in the area of system-level design for embedded systems, and include specification techniques for complex embedded telecommunication systems, hardware-software co-design, formal refinement techniques, and reuse practices. Dr Meacham has been working in EU-funded projects as researcher/embedded software engineer both in Industry and in University since 1995, and have accomplished a large amount of teaching experience in several institutions (UK and Greece) since 2000. Specifically, she worked as an embedded software engineer for INTRACOM Telecommunications Solutions and ISD s.a. and has participated in more than 10 research projects funded by the European Commission regarding developing telecommunications systems and system level methodologies. Dr Meacham has published a number of referred articles in International Journals and well known conferences in the area of hardware/software co-design. Her latest research interests involve methodologies (processes, tools and methods) to improve design and development of systems such as hardware/software, system of systems, information systems, model-based design, domain-specific modelling for several applications from business processes to education. Her teaching experience ranges from system level design courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (System analysis and design) as well as computing and programming courses (Data Management, Web Programming). She has been teaching in several UK institutions since 2006 and in higher education since 2011. She is an active committee member of BCS (British Computer Society) of two specialist groups at a national level, the BCS Software Quality Management (SQM) and the BCS Formal Aspects of Computer Science (FACs) for the last five years. During this time, she has been organising industrial talks and has also been the industrial liaison leader for Bournemouth University.
