Aydin Akan received the B.Sc. degree in 1988 from the University of Uludag, Bursa, Turkey, the M.Sc. degree from the Technical University of Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA, in 1996, all in Electrical Engineering. He has been with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Istanbul University since 1996 where he currently holds a Professor position. His current research interests are statistical signal processing, time-frequency signal processing methods and applications of signal processing methods to wireless communications and biomedical engineering. Dr. Akan is a Senior Member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and Editorial Board Member of the Digital Signal Processing Journal.
