Maytham Alabbas is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Basrah, where he has been a faculty member since 2003. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK (2013), where his thesis earned the 2014 Best Thesis Prize from the School of Computer Science. He further earned his M.Sc. (2002) and B.Sc. (1999) in Computer Science at the University of Basrah, Iraq. His research interests span artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning, deep learning, computational linguistics, and language engineering. He has contributed to the academic community by serving on program committees for numerous conferences and workshops, including IntelliSys (2021–2024), AICCC (2023–2024), AIBThings (2023–2024), SIoTEC (2022–2024), AMLTA (2019), ACLing (2018), and AISI (2018), among others. He has authored over 28 journal articles and 19 conference papers. He holds a professional membership with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
