Huei-Tse Hou

Dr. Huei-Tse Hou received his Ph.D. degree from the Graduate Institute of Information and Computer Education, National Taiwan Normal University, in 2008. He is now an Associate Professor of Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. His research interest focuses on e-Learning behavioral pattern analysis, e-Learning system development, instructional knowledge management/sharing, and game-based learning systems. He is also the Director of Mini-Educational Game development Group in E-learning Research Center in National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST MEG). Dr. Hou has published more than 100 academic papers, and more than 30 papers were published in SSCI-indexed journals, including papers in such professional journals as Computers in Human Behavior, Computers & Education, Educational Technology & Society, British Journal of Educational Technology, and Interactive Learning Environments. He also serves as an editorial board member or a reviewer for more than 20 international academic journals, including more than ten SSCI-indexed journals related to digital learning. Owing to the outstanding performance in academic research of e-learning, he received the Ta-You Wu Memorial Award (Young Outstanding Researcher Award) from the National Science Council, Taiwan in 2010, and the Outstanding Research Award from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan in 2011. He also gained a four-year grant project from NSC for young scholars in the 100th academic year. On the one hand, Dr. Hou actively introduced his research results to the teachers and students. He also directed his team in many game competitions, held workshops, and enhanced the quality and acceptability of educational games. On the other hand, Dr. Hou also devoted himself to exploring more complex learning contexts (e.g. learning behaviors in problem-solving), including long-term process analysis using content analysis, sequential analysis, and visualization of all types of learning patterns with his constant innovation and integration in research methods. Related papers published by Dr. Hou since 2007 thus had great international impacts. Since Dr. Hou emphasized on long-term international communication and cooperation, he was invited to organize and serve as an organizer in the workshops of digital educational games and STEM issues in 7 international conferences these years. The three international academic books edited by Dr. Hou have been downloaded more than 4000 times by readers over 100 countries. Therefore, it was considered greatly influential in the related field.
