Dr. Charles is currently serving as a Researcher in Applied Mathematics at CU Boulder. He is also serving as Director of Innovation in Denver Public Schools. He holds a B.A. in Pure Mathematics from City University of New York, and Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics from University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Charles served in the private industries of telecommunications and defense prior to his 18 years in K-12 education. His passions include Computer Vision, Pattern Detection, Machine Learning and Nonnegative Matrix Factorizations, and transforming the teaching of mathematics to include real-world applications through mathematical modeling in K-12.
